Job description

  • Unique agricultural business with global reach
  • Lead a specialist seed operation and small team
  • Ulverstone, Northwest Tasmania
The Company

Botanical Resources Australia is a specialist agricultural business with a global footprint and a strong base in Northwest Tasmania.

Best known for producing natural insecticide ingredients from Australian-grown pyrethrum, BRA operates across farming, research, manufacturing and agricultural services. Its seed function also supports specialist processing for internal and external customers across a diverse range of high-value crops.

The business combines deep technical knowledge with a practical, collaborative culture and a strong focus on quality.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager - Agriculture Services, you will take ownership of BRA's specialist seed operation and lead a small permanent and casual team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, training and organising the seed operations team
  • Coordinating cleaning, treating, sorting, packing and dispatch
  • Maintaining quality, traceability, inventory and accurate records
  • Managing customer orders, schedules, logistics and communication
  • Overseeing plant, equipment and maintenance requirements
  • Working with agronomy, field production and R&D on pyrethrum seed crops
  • Improving processes and supporting the growth of seed services

BRA has strengthened its systems and processes considerably, creating a solid base for the successful person to build on. The opportunity now is to bring the function together, develop the team and improve how the operation supports customers and the wider business.

About You

You enjoy working close to production. You're practical, approachable and happy to spend time in the paddock, shed and processing facility to understand how the business operates before introducing improvements.

While experience in seed production is highly regarded, we're equally interested in candidates from broader agricultural production, agronomy, crop operations or similar industries. Strong leadership capability and alignment with the team and business culture will be key to success in the role.

To succeed, you will bring:

  • Experience leading operational teams
  • Confidence working with growers and building trusted relationships
  • A practical, hands-on leadership style
  • Strong planning, quality and organisational skills
  • An interest in improving systems after first understanding how they work

A forklift high-risk work licence and ChemCert accreditation would be advantageous but are not essential.

Why This Role
  • Take ownership of a specialised seed operation
  • Shape systems, team capability and future growth
  • Build broader leadership and commercial experience
  • Work within a unique agricultural business with global reach
