Job summary

Elders Seed Category Manager role is a permanent, full-time position responsible for driving the national commercial performance and strategic direction of Elders' Seed category. You will lead category strategy, supplier relationships, product ranging, pricing, inventory and supply planning to deliver sustainable growth and strong commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in agriculture, agribusiness, business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development and execution of the national Seed category strategy, aligned with Retail Products priorities and broader business objectives.
• Manage strategic relationships with key suppliers and industry partners, supporting commercial negotiations and growth opportunities.
• Develop and maintain category ranging, pricing and portfolio strategies to maximise commercial performance and meet customer needs.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer insights to identify opportunities and inform category decisions.
• Oversee inventory and supply planning to optimise stock availability, working capital and overall supply chain performance.
• Partner with regional retail teams and branches to ensure effective execution of category initiatives and supplier programs across the network.
• Manage category performance, including revenue, margin, inventory and return on capital, providing insights and recommendations to support informed outcomes.
• Ensure strong governance and compliance with regulatory requirements, contractual obligations and internal policies.

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Seed Category Manager to join the growing team on a permanent, full-time basis. As Seed Category Manager, you will drive the national commercial performance and strategic direction of Elders' Seed category. Leading category strategy, supplier relationships, product ranging, pricing, inventory and supply planning, you will play a pivotal role in delivering sustainable growth and strong commercial outcomes. Working closely with suppliers, regional retail teams and branches, you will ensure a competitive and locally relevant seed offering that meets customer needs, while supporting the success of our customers and the broader Elders network.

About You

• Tertiary qualification in agriculture, agribusiness, business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Full unrestricted driver’s licence (with travel required as part of the role).
• Demonstrated experience in agribusiness, retail distribution, category management or the seed industry, including supplier, pricing, inventory and business planning.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate insights into practical actions.
• Proven ability to build productive supplier and stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively across a geographically dispersed network.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and provide clear commercial guidance.
• Highly organised, with strong self-management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple seasonal and commercial demands.
• Experience working in a multi-site sales organisation and/or agricultural retail environment, with knowledge of the Australian seed market, is highly regarded.
