David Jones Canberra Centre is seeking a Casual Logistics Assistant (Retail / Pick Packer) to support in-store operations. You will manage stock intake, prepare merchandise for the sales floor, and fulfil online orders, working shifts around peak trade.

Shifts are typically 7:30am-2:30pm or 10am-5pm, pay rate $34.98 per hour plus super. Availability around Black Friday and Christmas is essential, with onboarding via a short online induction.

Qualifications

• Experience or strong adaptability in retail stockroom, logistics, or fulfilment environments.
• High attention to detail and basic digital scanner/computer literacy.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and maneuver stock and logistics equipment safely throughout shifts.
• Strong reliability and flexibility across retail operating hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends).

• Stock Intake & Floor Delivery: Receive dock shipments, unpack, ticket, hang, security-tag, and transport merchandise to selling floors efficiently.
• Order Fulfilment: Pick, prepare, and pack online and Click & Collect orders using digital systems.
• Inventory Control & Processing: Assist with store transfers, stock adjustments, and reports for stock loss management.
• Safety & Compliance: Operate logistics equipment safely and adhere to WHS and stock handling policies.
• Customer-Facing Etiquette: Maintain professionalism on the sales floor while assisting customers.

Role: Casual Logistics Assistant (Retail / Pick Packer)

Location: Canberra Centre

Start Date: From 27th of September shifts will begin to become available, through to the 15th of February 2027

Shift times: Generally 7:30am-2:30pm or 10am-5pm

Pay Rate: $34.98 per hour + super base rate

Position Summary: As a Casual Logistics Assistant at David Jones, you will drive behind-the-scenes store operations by managing the full inventory workflow in accordance with Goods Inwards and Outwards policies. You will process merchandise intake from the receiving dock, prepare stock for the sales floor, and fulfil online and Click & Collect orders. Operating with high attention to detail, safety compliance, and stock loss awareness, you will ensure merchandise is readily available to deliver a seamless customer experience during peak trade.

Availability & Onboarding:

Peak Availability: The highest volume of shifts will center around Black Friday and the Christmas trading period, so strong availability in late November and December is essential. Adhoc shifts are available starting late September.

Pre-Induction: A 30-minute David Jones online pre-induction will be emailed to successful candidates and must be completed prior to accessing shifts. (If you are successful for multiple David Jones locations, you only need to complete this once).

Key Responsibilities:

Stock Intake & Floor Delivery: Receive dock shipments, unpack, ticket, hang, security-tag, and transport merchandise to selling floors efficiently.

Order Fulfilment: Efficiently pick, prepare, and pack online and Click & Collect orders using digital systems to support accurate, timely delivery and a seamless customer experience.

Inventory Control & Processing: Assist with store transfers, pickups, faulty stock debits (RAs), and reportable stock counts to support stock loss management.

Safety & Compliance: Operate logistics equipment safely and strictly adhere to WHS, emergency, and stock handling policies.

Customer-Facing Etiquette: Maintain a professional demeanour when working on the sales floor, assisting with basic customer inquiries when needed.

Key Requirements:
