Job summary

Australia Post in Avalon is recruiting seasonal forklift drivers for a casual roster. The role runs on a Monday–Friday schedule from mid‑November to early December, with hours starting 8:00am. This hands‑on position helps move parcels through a busy warehouse and offers a great entry into the iconic Australian postal service.

Qualifications

• You hold a valid LF Forklift License.
• You enjoy a physical role and can lift up to 16kg regularly.
• You are safety conscious and can operate conveyors and lifting devices.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to load and unload mail from bags, trays, containers and cages.
• Sort parcels and mail using scanners and manual handling.
• Work across processing equipment and lines with care.
• Assist with loading/unloading and pallet movement with other staff.

Seasonal team members generally commence across October and November and depending on parcel volume, assisting us to deliver until around Christmas.

Your roster

We have opportunities located in Avalon. The roster is Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 3:51pm from mid-November to early December, then Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 1:15pm thereafter.

You’ll be paid

• Seasonal Forklift Drivers (21 years or older) are paid $35.83 per hour, including casual loading, plus 12% superannuation
• Junior rates apply to applicants under 21 years old
• Some roles may also attract penalty rates for overtime, evening, and weekend work
• 12% superannuation rate

You’ll be

• Using a Forklift, loading and unloading mail from mail bags, trays, containers and metal cages (Unit Loading Devices)
• Sorting parcels and mail (manually or machine-assisted) with the use of scanners
• Working across sophisticated processing equipment and lines
• Operating and using load shifting equipment such as hand pallet devices and stackers whilst cooperating with operations staff to get the mail into the facility

About you

• You hold a valid LF Forklift License
• You enjoy a physical role, can lift up to 16kgs of Mail and Parcels regularly, have a great memory and attention to detail
• You're safety conscious and able to safely operate equipment such as conveyors, loading/lifting devices including pallet jacks to load and unload parcels from trucks and vans
• You enjoy a fast paced environment where compliance checks are required
• You’re comfortable handling parcels that may contain meat and/or alcohol products
