Job summary

Thales is seeking a Senior ILS Engineer to join the Engineering Support Team. You will deliver Logistic Support Analysis for Scylla Sonar on Collins Class Submarines under ISS, coordinating with Management, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply and Training.

You will lead ILS tasks, perform RAMT and FMECA analyses, manage FRACAS, APL and SAL, and develop reports to ensure contract success and long-term supportability.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience delivering logistics support and system requirement development for military or maritime systems.
• Experience in performing logistic engineering tasks and interpreting technical drawings and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Lead ILS engineering tasks using approved plans, policies, procedures, tools and processes.
• Conduct supportability analysis to identify stock level deficiencies.
• Perform spares analysis to identify requirements for spares and repair parts.
• Manage FRACAS and analyze reliability issues.
• Manage APL and SAL.
• Submit new part codification requests.
• Perform RAMT analysis of Sonar and Towed Array systems.
• Build Reliability Block Diagrams and conduct FMECA.
• Provide RAM support for maintenance planning using RCM.
• Support for obsolescence studies.
• Identify ILS products to support the development of ECPs and CCPs.
• Develop logistic support products and reports to meet the requirements of the Contract.
• Ensure that ILS procedures, processes and work practices are sufficiently comprehensive to enable production of the ILS deliverables to the satisfaction of the Contract.

The Senior ILS Engineer will form part of the Engineering Support Team and is responsible for provision of Logistic Support Analysis services and deliverables in support of the Scylla Sonar suite deployed on the Collins Class Submarines under the Scylla In-Service Support (ISS) contract. The Senior ILS Engineer collaborates with stakeholders including Management, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply and Training functions as well as the wider Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) team.

Key Activities And Responsibilities

As a Scylla ILS Engineer, you are accountable for:

• Leading ILS engineering tasks using approved plans, policies, procedures, tools and processes.
• Conducting supportability analysis to identify deficiencies with stock levels.
• Performing spares analysis and modelling to identify requirements for spares and repair parts.
• Managing the Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) and conducting analysis to identify reliability issues.
• Managing the Allowance Parts List (APL) and Shipboard Allowance List (SAL).
• Submission of new part codification requests.
• Performing Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Testability (RAMT) analysis of Sonar and Towed Array systems.
• Building Reliability Block Diagrams and conducting Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
• Providing support for maintenance planning, using Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), to identify predictive and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Supporting the engineering team with obsolescence studies.
• Identification of ILS products to support the development of ECPs and CCPs.
• Developing logistic support products and reports to meet the requirements of the Contract.
• Ensuring that ILS procedures, processes and work practices are sufficiently comprehensive to enable production of the ILS deliverables to the satisfaction of the Contract.

Key Knowledge And Experience

To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

• Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Formal qualifications in ILS preferred but not essential.
• Planning and executing the identification and development of logistics support and system requirements for military or maritime systems.
• Experience in performing logistic engineering tasks.
• Understanding contracted requirements and the application of technical specifications and standards.
• Aptitude and experience for interpreting technical engineering information (drawings and manuals)
• Experience in managing technical documentation life-cycles.
• Working knowledge of engineering lifecycles and Configuration Management requirements.
• Experience in an In-service Support (ISS) environment performing reliability studies, Maintenance Requirements Determination (MRD) or field service studies.
