Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking an experienced scraper operator in Queensland to manage large-scale earthworks and road construction on the Haul Road Project. You will operate scrapers, perform inspections, and help maintain road surfaces while following site safety procedures.

The role offers a 2/1 roster, flights from anywhere in Australia with paid travel time, and camp accommodation with meals provided, supporting delivery of major project milestones.

Qualifications

• Proven scraper operating experience in civil/construction/mining.
• Experience with bulk earthworks/road construction.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening.
• Current driver's licence and Australian working rights.

Rio Tinto is a global leader in mining and resources, delivering large-scale projects across Australia and internationally. The Haul Road Project is a significant civil works project supporting critical mining infrastructure in Far North Queensland.

What You Will Be Doing

• Operating scrapers on large-scale haul road construction projects
• Conducting bulk earthworks and road construction activities
• Maintaining haul road surfaces and project work areas
• Completing pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks
• Working safely in accordance with site procedures and project requirements
• Supporting project milestones through efficient equipment operation

What You Will Need

• Proven experience operating scrapers in a civil, construction, or mining environment
• Experience completing bulk earthworks and road construction activities
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
• Current Driver's Licence and full Australian working rights
