Job summary

Healius is a leading Australian healthcare company seeking a qualified Scientist - Multi Skilled for its Mount Hospital in Perth. The role covers specimen handling, operation of multiple analysers, rapid PCR using GeneXpert, and routine microscopy, with a focus on QA and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will hold a science degree, demonstrate QC expertise, and thrive in a busy environment while supporting diverse hospital teams and external surveys. Immunisation may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science.
• Demonstrated experience and skills within the discipline.
• Strong QC knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to participate in quality accreditation activities (NATA/ISO).
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Commitment to quality and teamwork.
• Willingness to provide evidence of immunisation (Hepatitis B).

Responsibilities

• Specimen receipt and processing.
• Operate and maintain analysers including Beckman Coulter AU680 and DxC700AU.
• Perform rapid PCR on the GeneXpert.
• Conduct seminal analysis.
• Perform STAT Microscopy.
• QA monitoring and participation in internal and external surveys.
• Liaise with hospital staff and other departments.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Scientist - Multi Skilled who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team who will be responsible for:

• Specimen receipt and processing
• Use and maintenance of the following analysers: Beckman Coulter AU680, DxC700AU, ACCESS 2, XN1000, Haemocue, CA-660, ABL90, Grifols Eflexis and DG reader, Elecsys, Aerospray stainer, and Triage
• Rapid PCR on the GeneXpert
• Perform seminal analysis
• Perform STAT Microscopy
• QC monitoring
• Participate in Internal and External surveys
• Liaison between other departments and external customers (hospital staff).

About You

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

• Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
• Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
• Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
• An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
• A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
• A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
• Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
