Job summary

Austin Health Shepparton Laboratory is seeking a casual scientist to join our multidisciplinary team, delivering biochemistry, haematology and microbiology services across a 24/7 operation. You will operate and maintain laboratory equipment, keep training and competencies up to date, and participate in shift and on-call rosters to ensure timely patient care.

About the Shepparton Lab

Austin Health Pathology Shepparton is a core laboratory offering services of Biochemistry, Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Microbiology. The Shepparton Laboratory operates 24/7 supporting GV Health hospital, as well as providing services to surrounding hospitals, GPs, and specialists from across the region.

About the role

The Shepparton Laboratory is seeking an enthusiastic scientist to join our team in a casual role.

A regular day will see you:

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment as per laboratory procedures
• Maintain training and competency levels in accordance with documented laboratory methods, procedures and policies
• Maintain relevant scientific and technological knowledge and skills
• Participate in shift and on-call roster

About you

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

• A commitment to Austin Health values.
• Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine degree, or alternative/equivalent science degree recognised by AIMS, AACB, AAM or ASC
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
• Ability to cope with continuous change
