Job summary

NSW Department of Education seeks a School Psychologist to join Dorrigo High School. The role involves counselling and psychological assessment to support student learning and wellbeing, in collaboration with teachers and families.

The successful candidate will be based at Dorrigo High School, with opportunities to work across primary and high school students, under the NSW public school system. Support includes supervision, professional development and a range of leave and health benefits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and commitment to Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement with NSW AECG Inc., Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.
• General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Valid Working with Children Check clearance – WWCC must be NSW.
• Current and valid driver’s licence and ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Responsibilities

• Provides counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups, including short term interventions.
• Engages with and implements procedures of the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
• Works with the principal, school exec, staff and student support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes.
• Contributes to social, emotional, and academic development of students, and supports schools with complex behavioural needs.
• Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments and reports results.
• Collaborates with families, parents and carers and other agencies to develop school-based support.
• Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
• Refer students and families to external agencies for support.
