Job summary

Aspect Hills Shire School in New South Wales is seeking a motivated, part‑time grounds and maintenance worker to ensure school buildings and grounds remain safe and well‑maintained. The role involves hands‑on repairs, routine maintenance, and operating site equipment, with duties on Mondays and Wednesdays.

You should have experience in general maintenance, knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance of grounds/buildings.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and general trade maintenance.
• Understanding of machinery/equipment operation related to building maintenance.
• Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Trade background is desirable.
• Current driver’s licence and use of own vehicle.
• Current NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment.
• International Police Check clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure building systems and machines run smoothly (air conditioning, pumps).
• Undertake repair/maintenance work on school buildings (locks, windows, light bulbs, patching).
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
• Estimate repair costs and document repairs undertaken.
• Handle, store, and distribute goods/materials.
• Move equipment/furniture as required.
