Job summary

Molong Central School is seeking a General Assistant to join our maintenance and handyperson team on a temporary full-time basis. The role supports safe, well-maintained facilities essential for high-quality teaching and learning.

You will maintain grounds and rooms, assist with events, perform light repairs, operate tools safely and work both independently and with staff and students to keep our school environment welcoming and functional.

Qualifications

• Reliable, responsible and willing to take initiative.
• Practical, hands-on and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Physically capable of performing manual work and general maintenance tasks.
• Able to safely use and care for tools, machinery and equipment.
• Organised, with good attention to safety and detail.
• A good communicator who works respectfully and cooperatively with staff and students.
• Willing to comply with NSWDoE policies, procedures and WHS requirements.
• Committed to helping maintain a safe, welcoming and well-presented school environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining school grounds, lawns, gardens and playing fields, including mowing, pruning, planting and general upkeep.
• Setting up and packing away rooms, furniture, equipment and facilities for school activities and events.
• Undertaking minor maintenance and repairs to buildings, grounds and equipment, and identifying and reporting maintenance or safety issues.
• Safely operating and maintaining mowers, tools and other equipment in accordance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
• Unpacking, storing and distributing supplies and assisting with stocktakes as required.
• Monitoring school security systems and reporting faults where required.
• Working cooperatively with staff and students to support the day-to-day operation of the school.
• Undertaking other duties within the capabilities of the role as directed by the Principal.
