Job summary

NSW Department of Education is seeking a School Counsellor for Finley High School. You will provide counselling and psychological assessments to support student learning and wellbeing, working closely with teachers and families across multiple communities.

The role offers supervision, professional development, and access to Rural and Remote Incentives. A strong emphasis is placed on collaboration, culturally responsive practice, and advancing student mental health within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions with a demonstrated understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people.
• Experience in the psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve the learning and wellbeing outcomes of children and young people including students from diverse backgrounds and needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide counselling and psychological assessment of students to support learning and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with teachers and families to understand and manage students' learning and mental health needs.
• Engage in ongoing professional supervision, development, and cross-disciplinary collaboration within the school counselling team.
