Job summary

Department of Education and Training in Alice Springs is seeking qualified school counsellors to support student wellbeing and safety. You will work with school wellbeing teams and families to promote inclusion and attendance through evidence-based interventions within a MTSS framework.

Primary Objective:

School counsellors provide support to schools to improve the wellbeing and safety of students through evidence-based interventions. The school counsellor collaborates closely with a school’s wellbeing team and families and plays a vital role in promoting wellbeing, inclusion and attendance through using a multi-tiered systems of support framework. Through offering whole school/class support, small group interventions and individual counselling, the school counsellor builds strong partnerships within the school community and contributes to a positive, supportive environment that enhances student outcomes for all learners. Selection will be made at the P1 or P2 level depending on the qualifications and/or experience of the successful applicant. Three vacancies are available, working in Darwin, Palmerston and surrounding areas, Groote Eylandt and Alice Springs.
