Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to assist in the development of students by improving the student's access to the curriculum.
• Ability to work effectively in a team with paramedical staff, teachers, teacher assistants and school support staff.
• Well developed communication skills when relating to students, staff, parents and outside agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to assess each student's learning needs, formulate individual and group therapy programs, assess, monitor and record progress.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and capacity to reflect on professional practice.
• Understanding of intellectual disability and its impact on learning.
• Understanding of and ability to manage challenging behaviour across a diverse age and disability range.

Responsibilities

• Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers, parents and other school clients.
• Ensure all external providers deliver the required service.
• Manage the design and production of school publications and documents.
• Provide professional student support services, e.g. therapist, psychology and counselling services.
• Provide strategic advice on support services and their impact on students, curriculum and services.
• Manage access to school resource and reference materials.
