Job summary

Rutherglen High School in north-east Victoria is recruiting a Mental Health Practitioner to join the school wellbeing team. The role provides evidence-based counselling, prevention and early intervention services to students and coordinates supports for those with complex needs.

Working with families, teachers and external health providers, you will develop and deliver school-wide mental health strategies, contribute to policy development and help create a safe, inclusive environment that

Qualifications

Qualified as a psychologist, social worker, mental health nurse, occupational therapist or counsellor.
Demonstrated direct counselling experience.
Experience delivering mental health prevention and promotion activities.

Responsibilities

Providing advice and professional learning to others to build wellbeing capacity.
Delivering mental health prevention and promotion activities and early intervention for students.
Planning and implementing intervention strategies for students with complex needs including collaborating with families and other professionals.
Liaising with school staff and external service providers to provide appropriate support to students.
Maintaining professional competence and ongoing professional development.
