The Salvation Army Southern Highlands Corps in NSW is seeking a casual Sales Assistant to deliver outstanding customer service and support day-to-day store and warehouse operations. Reporting to the Corps Operations and Services Manager, you will help process donations, price and present stock, and assist with promotions in a friendly, gospel-centered environment.

You will join a team focused on community support, safety, and quality service, with on-site work in Southern Highlands.

• Previous retail customer service experience.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
• Willingness to comply with WHS and background checks.

About The Role

As a Sales Assistant, this is your opportunity to deliver great customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the store and warehouse, contributing to the mission and impact of The Salvation Army.

Reporting to the Corps Operations and Services Manager, this is a casual role based onsite in Southern Highlands, NSW.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Deliver exceptional customer service and assist customers across all areas of the store.


• Process donations, replenish stock, and ensure merchandise is correctly priced and presented.


• Support store promotions, visual merchandising, and marketing activities.


• Maintain cash handling and banking procedures in line with policy.


• Contribute to a clean, safe, and well-organised store environment.


• Follow Work Health & Safety requirements and complete other duties as directed.

What You Will Bring

• Demonstrated customer service experience working in a retail environment with an ability to work collaboratively in a team setting


• Sound presentation and communication skills (both verbal and written) with an ability to interact with a variety of people, using tact, discretion and diplomacy in challenging or sensitive situations.


• Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, multitask and communicate professionally with staff, volunteers, customers and donors in a courteous and respectful manner.


• A National police record check is required and prior to commencement


• Knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace


• Incumbent needs to have a reasonable level of fitness in order to carry out the duties of this position
