Job summary

Bingo Industries is seeking a Safety Manager – Operations to protect our people and strengthen safety across processing operations. You’ll be out on site, partnering with leaders to ensure safety enables performance and drive a line-led safety culture.

You’ll lead safety across Operations, strengthen controls, and coach leaders to own safety outcomes, building a proactive culture where risks are understood before incidents occur. This role offers weekly pay and strong career progression.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience as a senior safety professional or safety leader.
  • Experience in waste/recycling/resource recovery operations preferred.
  • Ability to develop practical safety controls for frontline use.
  • Strong experience with safe work systems and risk management practices.
  • Proven ability to influence and coach operational leaders.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 or AS/NZS 4801 or similar.
  • Knowledge of safety management software such as Intelex is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Embed a proactive safety culture with ownership at all levels.
  • Lead safe systems of work and critical risk controls.
  • Spend time on site identifying hazards and coaching teams on safer practices.
  • Provide assurance on risks, safety systems and regulatory exposure.
  • Lead major incident investigations (ICAM) and implement learnings.
  • Directly manage the NSW Safety Officer and report to leadership.
  • Monitor safety performance and report trends with actions.
  • Improve safety governance, risk registers and forums.
  • Develop safety communications and Toolbox Talks for risk awareness.
  • Maintain relationships with regulators and industry bodies.

You’ll lead the safety agenda across Operations, strengthen critical controls, coach leaders to own safety outcomes and build a proactive culture where risks are understood and addressed before they become incidents.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with operational leaders to embed a proactive, line-led safety culture where safety ownership sits at every level.
  • Lead and continuously improve safe systems of work, critical controls and BINGO’s Zero Harm approach.
  • Spend time on site identifying hazards, challenging unsafe practices and coaching leaders and employees on safer ways of working.
  • Provide assurance around critical risks, safety systems and regulatory exposure across our processing operations.
  • Lead major incident investigations using ICAM, ensuring learnings translate into practical improvements.
  • Lead, coach and manage the performance of your direct report, our NSW Safety Officer
  • Monitor safety performance, identify trends and provide clear, action-focused reporting to leadership.
  • Continually improve safety governance and systems, including Intelex, risk registers and safety forums.
  • Develop engaging safety communication, training and Toolbox Talks that build risk awareness across our workforce.
  • Maintain strong relationships with relevant regulators and industry bodies
What makes you a GOgetter:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience as a senior safety professional or safety leader.
  • Ideally, you’ve developed your safety career within waste, recycling or resource recovery operations. Alternatively, you’ll bring experience from another complex, high-risk processing environment such as mining, manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • You understand operational risk and can develop safety controls that are practical, effective and workable on the frontline.
  • Strong experience in safe work systems, critical risk management, auditing, incident investigation and implementing sustainable safety improvements.
  • A natural ability to influence, challenge and coach operational leaders while building strong relationships with frontline teams.
  • Experience with safety management systems such as ISO 45001, AS/NZS 4801 or similar.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to turn safety data and trends into meaningful action.
  • Experience with Intelex or similar safety management software would be highly regarded.
