Job summary

Saab Australia is expanding its Systems Engineering capability in Adelaide and seeks motivated engineers to join the team across multiple opportunities. You will contribute to the development, integration, testing and support of software‑intensive systems in a defence context, under guidance from senior engineers and within safety and coding standards.

About you

We are seeking applicants with:

  • Over 4 years' engineering experience
  • Practitioner‑level exposure to Systems Engineering disciplines such as:
    • Requirements Management
    • System Architecture
    • Systems Integration
    • Verification & Validation
  • Experience working with complex systems (desirable)
  • Exposure to defence environments or ASDEFCON frameworks (desirable)
Education & Eligibility
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or relevant discipline.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance – NV1
  • Ability to access ITAR‑restricted information
Technical Competence
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles
  • Familiarity with tools such as DOORS or Cameo Systems Modeler
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability

The opportunity

As a Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the development, integration, testing, and support of software‑intensive systems. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will assist in designing and implementing system solutions while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and project expectations.

You will also participate in creating technical documentation, supporting validation activities, and staying current with emerging engineering tools, technologies, and practices.

Key Responsibilities
Core Engineering Activities
  • Gather and analyse system requirements from stakeholders
  • Support development of requirements documentation and traceability
  • Assist in system architecture and design specification work
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Support integration of hardware and software components
  • Work with senior engineers to configure and implement system solutions
  • Develop and execute system test plans
  • Participate in functional, integration, and system‑level testing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration and performance issues
  • Validate systems against operational needs and performance benchmarks
  • Prepare test and validation documentation
Development, Deployment & Support
  • Contribute to change management of engineering baselines
  • Participate in design reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR
  • Liaise with project engineering teams to align scope and resolve risks
  • Support installation, configuration, and maintenance activities
  • Assist with training material and user documentation
General Requirements
  • Work in alignment with Saab's Code of Conduct
  • Adhere to company processes, policies, and safety standards
  • Perform additional duties as required
