Project Haulage Australia is seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Officer to oversee workplace safety and heavy-vehicle accreditation systems at our Yatala depot.

This hands-on role requires collaboration with directors, operations, drivers and subcontractors, with a focus on regulatory compliance, fatigue management and incident investigations. Experience with NHVAS, HVA or OSOM is highly regarded and HR aspects are a bonus.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy-vehicle transport safety or compliance.
• Knowledge of the Heavy Vehicle National Law, Chain of Responsibility and WHS requirements.
• Experience with fatigue, maintenance, load restraint and restricted-access vehicles.
• Strong communication, investigation and recordkeeping skills.
• A practical and approachable style, with a willingness to work directly with drivers and mechanics.
• Relevant safety, auditing or incident-investigation qualifications are preferred.
• Experience with NHVAS, HVA, WAHVA or OSOM operations would be highly regarded.
• Human Resources experience or qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.

Responsabilités

• Monitor fatigue, maintenance, mass, dimension and load-restraint compliance.
• Support OSOM permit applications, route planning and access-condition compliance.
• Conduct workplace inspections, internal audits and driver compliance reviews.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and compliance breaches.
• Coordinate driver inductions, toolbox meetings and refresher training.
• Manage corrective actions and maintain appropriate compliance records.
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate relevant requirements to the business.
• Support subcontractor and tow-operator compliance.
• Provide the directors with a concise weekly safety and compliance update.

Project Haulage Australia is an established, family-owned transport company specialising in interstate open-trailer, project and oversize freight throughout Australia.

Based at our Yatala depot, we employ more than 25 people and operate a fleet of approximately 100 vehicles, comprising company-owned trucks and trailers together with regular subcontractors and tow operators.

We are seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Officer to oversee our workplace safety, heavy-vehicle compliance and accreditation systems.

This is a practical, hands-on position working closely with the directors, operations team, drivers, subcontractors and workshop. An interest or experience in HR and employee management would also be highly regarded.
