Job description

Overview

ACCIONA is seeking several dedicated Safety Advisors to support Transmission Lines and Substation (Energy Hub) Construction as part of a Tier 1 Joint Venture to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission project. The project is delivered by the ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), and will deliver large-scale renewable energy infrastructure in Australia.

This role is based in our project office in Sydney CBD with occasional site visits. When the project is fully operational, the roster will transition to a 14/7 pattern out of the Central West Orana Region. The network will connect wind and solar projects and support powering homes across the region.

Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coaching and mentoring of project personnel on safety systems and best practices.
  • Identify, monitor and report any emerging risks to the project team.
  • Work with the Safety and Training departments to identify and develop training.
  • Assist in incident investigations.
  • Assist in site communications (Pre-Start, Toolbox).
  • Regularly review onsite practices against the project risk register and management plans.
  • Identify potential and imminent hazards on site and address them in a positive and proactive manner with project field leadership.
  • Actively participate in and drive a culture of collaboration, discipline, innovation, adaptability to change and care.
  • Assist in risk activity workshops, providing expert and practical input.
  • Ensure safety and sustainability are always front of mind for all personnel.
  • Lead by example by promoting a positive work health and safety culture.
  • Conduct inspections, risk activity reviews and observations as per project requirements, including coaching and mentoring of inspection processes to project field leadership.
Criteria for Selection
  • Cert IV or Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent (Mandatory).
  • Postgraduate Degree in Safety or related tertiary disciplines (e.g., Human Resources, Quality, Environment or Project Management) (Desirable).
  • Safety Lead Auditor Qualification.
  • Experience as a Safety Practitioner in Transmission Lines, Substations, Civil Earthworks, and high-risk environments (required).
  • Electrical experience and/or qualifications are highly desirable.
