Job summary

Baptist World Aid Australia (BWAA) is seeking an experienced safeguarding consultant to assess and strengthen safeguarding practices across its international partner network. The engagement is casual temporary, expected to require up to 10 days of work with flexible timing.

The consultant will conduct desk reviews, assess systems and tools, review partner reporting mechanisms, and deliver actionable recommendations and a prioritized two-year action plan.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical expertise in safeguarding within international development and humanitarian settings.
• Experience supporting local implementing partners.
• Strong knowledge of ACFID and DFAT/ANCP requirements.
• Excellent project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a desk review of safeguarding policies and monitoring systems.
• Assess effectiveness of safeguarding mechanisms used by BWAA.
• Review partner safeguarding incident reporting and response processes.
• Facilitate a validation workshop with BWAA staff to discuss findings.
• Produce a comprehensive assessment report and prioritized action plan for the next two years.
• Implement revisions to key programming tools where appropriate.
