Job summary

SA Pathology is seeking a Quality & Risk Coordinator to support the Engineering Services department in maintaining the Quality Management System and fulfilling accreditation standards. The role focuses on risk coordination and continuous improvement, reporting to the Manager, Engineering Services.

The ideal candidate has biomedical engineering expertise, strong quality/risk management experience, and excellent communication skills to work across a multidisciplinary team in a public health

Qualifications

• Degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent with knowledge of engineering principles.
• Experience in quality management within accredited facilities and risk management within a large organisation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

About the role

The Quality & Risk Coordinator plays an important role in supporting excellence, safety and continuous improvement across the Engineering Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Services, you will help ensure the department meets the requirements of the SA Pathology Quality Management System, as well as relevant policies, procedures, regulatory obligations and accreditation and certification standards. You’ll be a valued contributor to a culture where quality is embedded in everyday practice and where people are supported to deliver reliable, high-quality services.

In this role, you’ll facilitate and maintain the Engineering Services Quality Management System in line with NATA accreditation requirements, while providing a dedicated risk coordination service to the department. Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, you’ll help identify opportunities for improvement, strengthen risk management and ensure quality requirements remain front of mind. About You

We’re looking for a highly organised and detail-focused professional who brings strong biomedical engineering expertise, quality and risk management capability, and a collaborative approach to working across a multidisciplinary environment. You’ll have the technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to confidently navigate complex information, build effective relationships and contribute to safe, high-quality outcomes.

• Qualified and technically capable – An appropriate degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent, with sound knowledge of engineering principles, practices, Australian Standards and the clinical application of biomedical devices and systems.
• Quality and risk focused – Demonstrated experience in quality management within an accredited facility and risk management within a large organisation, with knowledge of quality management principles and risk management frameworks, including AS/ISO 17025 and AS/NZS ISO 31000.
• Experienced in biomedical engineering – Practical experience in the maintenance and repair of biomedical and electro-mechanical equipment, with a strong commitment to safety, accuracy and technical excellence.
• Organised and collaborative – Exceptional attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities, analyse complex information, meet deadlines and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
