Job summary

UNSW Rural seeks a Wellness Support Advisor, Rural to assist rural medical students with social, emotional, health and wellbeing needs. You will triage, assess and deliver short therapy, working with local staff and community services to promote positive student wellbeing.

In collaboration with the Manager, Rural, you will schedule on-campus availability Tue–Thu and support student cohorts across campuses. Applicants should have relevant qualifications and demonstrated psychosocial experience.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent post qualifying experience in Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Mental Health Nurse with registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate accrediting body.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial support to rural students, triage, assess and deliver short solutions-based therapy.
• Collaborate with Faculty Wellbeing Officer and local staff at Rural Clinical Campus sites.
• Coordinate with central services (Mental Health Connect, Psychology and Wellness, Equitable Learning Service).
• Develop a work schedule with the Manager, Rural for on-campus availability Tue–Thu and occasional visits to other campuses.
