Job summary

NSW Department of Education seeks a School Psychologist for Broken Hill High School. The role is a full-time position located at Broken Hill High School, with responsibilities spanning counselling, assessment and collaboration across school communities to support student wellbeing.

The successful candidate will provide supervision, engage with multidisciplinary teams, and have opportunities for professional development and specialty supervision as part of a supportive school counselling service.

Qualifications

• Counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups.
• Ability to administer cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provides counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups, including short term therapeutic interventions.
• Engages with and implements the procedures of the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
• Works in consultation with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
• Contributes to the social, emotional, and academic development of students, and supports schools with complex behavioural needs.
• Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessment of students, reports on results and interventions.
• Works collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents, carers, and other agencies to develop school-based support.
• Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
• Refers students and/or families to other agencies that will support health and wellbeing outcomes.
