Job summary

Roofing Group in Hastings, Victoria is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team on a full-time basis. You will prepare cost estimates and quotations for roofing and cladding projects, coordinating with sales, project management, and production to deliver competitive pricing.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of estimating experience in roofing or construction, strong knowledge of materials and installation methods, and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.

• Proven 3–5 years’ experience as an estimator in roofing, cladding or construction.
• Strong knowledge of roofing/cladding materials and installation methods.
• Proficient in estimating software and MS Office (Excel).
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs and technical documentation.

About the role

We are seeking an experiencedEstimatorto join our team on afull-time basisat our Hastings, Victoria office. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for roofing and cladding projects of varying complexity and scale. Your estimating expertise will be fundamental to securing new business opportunities whilst ensuring project profitability. You will work closely with our sales, project management, and production teams to deliver competitive and accurate pricing that reflects our operational capabilities and market positioning. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the company's commercial success and growth trajectory.

Key responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for roofing and cladding projects based on drawings, specifications, site conditions and client requirement

Analyse material costs, labour requirements, equipment needs and overheads to develop competitive pricing

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing information and validate cost assumptions

Review tender documentation, scope of work and contract terms to ensure estimates align with project requirements

Maintain and update estimating databases, templates and historical cost data to support accurate and efficient quotation development

Collaborate with the sales team to present estimates and discuss project viability with clients

Work with project managers to reconcile estimates against actual costs and identify process improvements

Monitor market trends, material price fluctuations and industry benchmarks to maintain competitiveness

Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and schedules for internal management and client reporting

What we're looking for

Proven experience as an estimator within the roofing, cladding or broader construction industry, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role

Strong knowledge of roofing and cladding materials, installation methods, labour productivity rates and industry standards

Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, Particularly Excel.

Ability to interpret architectural and construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation

Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy

Sound understanding of construction costs, pricing strategies and commercial principles

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with sales, project management and operational teams

Capacity to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities whilst maintaining quality standards

Valid driver's licence and willingness to conduct site inspections as required

Preferred: Experience with construction management software, BuildXACT and CostX

Preferred: Tertiary qualification in construction, quantity surveying, engineering or related discipline
