Job summary

CAF - Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles in Canberra is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Fitter or Electrician) to ensure the rolling stock maintenance aligns with CAF policies. You will report to Team Leaders and the Maintenance Manager, performing safe and efficient maintenance across mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems.

Qualified tradesperson with electrical or mechanical certification is required; experience with heavy machinery and ability to work day/afternoon

Qualifications

Trade certificate/licence in electrical, mechanical or other trade.
Experience as a mechanic, especially bus/diesel.
Electrical licence highly regarded.
Experience with maintaining heavy machinery (mining etc) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on CAF rolling stock to meet production plans and CAF procedures.
Testing, diagnosing and repairing electronic, mechanical and electrical components including HVAC systems.
Fault finding using mechanical and electrical schematics and repairing components.
Inspecting bodywork, roofs and undercarriages for wear or damage.
Replacing parts and carrying out regular checks on brakes and couplings.
Writing reports and updating the Maintenance Management System.
