Job summary

Mytra seeks a robotics firmware intern to join the robotics firmware team in Brisbane, CA. You will contribute to bringing up firmware components, including hardware drivers, communication protocols, and controls functions essential for our product launch.

You’ll gain hands-on experience tuning motion control, implementing control loops, sensor fusion, and data interfaces (CAN, NATS, ROS2) while collaborating across hardware and software teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, CS or related field.
• Coursework or project experience in control theory, kinematics, dynamics, or system modeling.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Python for embedded and/or high-level software.
• Exposure to motor control and sensor integration (encoders, IMUs, cameras).
• Comfortable with Linux-based development and Git workflows.
• Ability to produce simple, robust solutions and debug complex systems.
• Interest in physics-based, first-principles problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Support development and tuning of motion control components for multi-axis robotic systems.
• Implement and test control loops for position, velocity, torque, and force control.
• Contribute to state estimation with sensor fusion and Kalman filters.
• Work with CAN, NATS, ROS2 to move data between controllers, sensors, and actuators.
• Support motor and sensor bring-up, including calibration and diagnostics.
• Iterate between simulation and hardware testing to reproduce corner cases.
• Write clear, maintainable C++ and Python for real-time and high-level software.
