Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a Part-Time Safer Roads Engineering Specialist to deliver expert advice on road safety, develop policies and lead teams. The position supports flexible working arrangements, with a 0.4 FTE commitment to two days per week. Pre-employment checks and VPS-related considerations apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in policy development or program/project management in road safety, public sector policy or public health.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Business Licensing Authority or qualifications enabling future registration.
• Strong road safety policy experience, excellent communication and negotiation skills, ability to simplify complex information, and demonstrated stakeholder relationship-building.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on complex road safety issues using Safe System and engineering approaches.
• Develop policies, programs and strategies to improve road safety across Victoria.
• Translate best practice into practical guidance, tools and advice for stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership, build Safe System capability and lead teams effectively.
