Job summary

DNA Recruitment is seeking a Road Maintenance Officer for a leading Melbourne South East Council to maintain roads, footpaths and community infrastructure. Work is Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm, with weekly pay and an ongoing position path.

You will join a dedicated maintenance team, gain valuable Local Government experience, and have the chance to progress to permanent employment. MR licence and safety checks are required.

Qualifications

• MR Truck Licence and road maintenance experience required.
• VicRoads demerit history and safety-focused approach essential.
• Working With Children and Police Checks are required.
• Construction White Card and civil infrastructure experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Road, footpath, kerb and channel and drainage maintenance.
• Asphalt patching and minor concreting.
• Bluestone repairs and general civil maintenance.
• Operating civil plant and machinery.
• Driving MR trucks and transporting materials and equipment.
• Responding to road defects and maintenance requests.
• Installing and maintaining traffic management equipment and signage.
• Completing daily pre-starts and basic equipment maintenance.
• Completing work orders and reporting hazards.

About the Role

You'll be part of a dedicated maintenance team helping keep local roads, footpaths and community infrastructure safe, accessible and well maintained.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

• Road, footpath, kerb and channel and drainage maintenance
• Asphalt patching and minor concreting
• Bluestone repairs and general civil maintenance
• Operating excavators, skid steers, rollers, compactors and other civil plant
• Driving MR trucks and transporting materials and equipment
• Responding to road defects and maintenance requests
• Installing and maintaining traffic management equipment and signage
• Completing daily pre-starts and basic equipment maintenance
• Completing work orders and reporting hazards
• Working collaboratively with the wider maintenance team

What You'll Need

We're looking for someone who is reliable, practical, safety-conscious and ready to get involved.

You will need:

• Current MR Truck Licence
• VicRoads 5-year demerit point history
• Current Working With Children Check
• Current Police Check
• Experience in road maintenance, civil construction or infrastructure
• Experience operating civil plant and machinery
• Construction White Card
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
