Job summary

Health Insurance Fund of Australia (HIF) invites applications for a Risk Consultant to support risk management and compliance. You will collaborate with the Risk and Compliance team to embed the RMF, provide insights into risk and internal controls, and challenge risk assessments.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in risk/Compliance, strong communication, data literacy, and familiarity with ISO 31000 and APRA standards; Protecht.ERM experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience in a risk, risk and compliance, or related role.
• Knowledge of AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 and a good working understanding of APRA’s CPS 220 and CPS 230.
• Experience supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of risk management frameworks.
• Ability to analyse business processes, identify control gaps and recommend practical improvements.
• Experience in risk assessment, mitigation, investigation and remediation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear policies, procedures and reports.
• Confidence working with data to identify trends, draw insights and support risk reporting.
• Experience with Protecht.ERM will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Job description

We’re the Health Insurance Fund of Australia, but our friends call us HIF and we have an exciting opportunity for a Risk Consultant with great people skills, to join our team.

What we are looking for in you:

As Risk Consultant, you’ll support the Risk Manager and broader Risk and Compliance team to strengthen HIF’s risk management practices and support our strategic objectives.

You’ll help maintain and enhance HIF’s Risk Management Framework, embed risk management into business practices, and provide insights into our risk and internal control environment.

Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business, you’ll provide independent review and challenge of risk assessments, support the review and monitoring of risk register and treatment actions, identify control gaps and recommend process improvements. You’ll also support second-line control assurance activities, risk culture assessments and reporting, helping to build risk awareness, accountability and capability across HIF.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a proactive risk culture, working closely with the business to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure risks are effectively managed.

This is a full time, permanent position.

Key responsibilities:

You’re an analytical and collaborative risk professional who can build effective relationships, challenge constructively and translate risk reporting into insights and practical recommendations. You’re comfortable working with stakeholders across different business areas and have the communication skills to make risk management clear, relevant and actionable.

You’ll also bring:

• At least two years’ experience in a risk, risk and compliance, or related role, ideally within financial or professional services.
• Knowledge of AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 and a good working understanding of APRA’s CPS 220 and CPS 230 prudential standards.
• Experience supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of risk management frameworks.
• The ability to analyse business processes, identify control gaps and recommend practical improvements.
• Experience in risk assessment, mitigation, investigation and remediation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear policies, procedures and reports.
• Confidence working with data to identify trends, draw insights and support risk reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a practical, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
• Experience in internal audit, process improvement or enterprise risk management systems such as Protecht.ERM will be highly regarded.
