Job summary

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade in Canberra is seeking APS5 Regulatory, Compliance, Assurance and Risk Officers to support the APO, RLD, FAB and ASO teams. These roles focus on risk management, assurance, control documentation and evidence-based assessments in a high-value government environment.

Officers will undertake research, evidence collection, and assurance testing, maintaining accurate records and preparing findings and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting risk-based assurance activities.
• Ability to interpret policy, legislation and guidance.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and undertake risk-based assurance reviews across APO functions, processes and internal controls.
• Develop assurance scopes, testing approaches and evidence requirements in line with approved plans and frameworks.
• Analyse evidence, risks, control weaknesses and dependencies, and develop evidence-based findings and practical recommendations.
• Prepare clear and accurate assurance reports, briefs and governance updates on control effectiveness and risks.
• Consult with APO business owners to confirm findings and remediation progress.
• Provide risk and assurance advice within established policies and procedures and support DFAT frameworks.
• Support assurance capability by preparing guidance, training and quality assurance activities.
