Job summary

Marsh is seeking a Risk and Safety Advisor to join the Risk and Safety team, servicing a portfolio across the Northern Eyre Peninsula. This hybrid role combines client-facing and internal work to support Local Government organisations with WHS standards and civil liability risk management.

You will collaborate with government bodies, develop risk management systems, and advocate a culture of risk awareness across communities. Travel within SA will be required.

Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of South Australian WHS legislation, principles and practices.
  • Proven risk management expertise.
  • Familiarity with ISO 31000.
  • Current SA driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally.

  • Work collaboratively with Local Government organisations to meet deliverables.
  • Provide oral and written risk management advice on civil liability issues.
  • Assist in developing systems for managing risk management issues in Local Government.

Job description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Risk and Safety team at Marsh. This role requires the successful incumbent to service a portfolio of clients across the Northern Eyre Peninsula (this may include the following members - Streaky Bay, Kimba, Ceduna, Elliston, Wudinna and Port Augusta).

This is a hybrid role, the role requires a mix of client and non-client facing work based on the client and our organisation’s needs. The role is suited to someone who can ideally balance travel, client needs and hybrid working.

As a Risk and Safety Advisor, you will be part of a dedicated team of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Risk Management Professionals, striving to make a positive impact on local government organisations we service. You will work closely with Local Government organisations within your region, providing high-quality service and advice to help them meet the Self-insured Work Health and Safety Standards and effectively manage Civil Liability risks. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the risk, safety, and wellbeing of communities and the organisations supporting them.

We will count on you to:
  • Work collaboratively and effectively as a part of the WHS & Risk Team, partnering with Local Government organisations to ensure key deliverables are achieved.
  • Provide advice, and risk management assistance, both oral and written, to Local Government organisations regarding civil liability issues.
  • Assist in the development of systems for the management of specific risk management issues in Local Government organisations.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain effective communication with internal staff, Local Government organisations, other government bodies, and private enterprises relevant to Local Government.
  • Raise the profile of risk management as a culture within Local Government.
What you need to have:
  • Sound knowledge of South Australian Work Health & Safety legislation, principles, and practices.
  • Risk Management expertise and experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 31000.
  • Familiarity with the Self-insured Work Health and Safety Standards Knowledge of SA Return to Work Act 2014.
  • Relevant auditing qualification or experience.
  • Computer literacy – competent in MS Office applications.
  • A current SA driver’s license and willingness to travel to regions within your portfolio.
