You will also contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures and compliance frameworks, working with managers and stakeholders across Council to strengthen systems, improve practices and promote a proactive approach to managing risk.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and maintain corporate risk registers, compliance records and associated reporting requirements.
  • Support internal audits, compliance reviews and the monitoring of corrective actions.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders, providing practical advice, guidance and support on risk and compliance matters.
  • Support Council's Child Safe Standards compliance program and continuous improvement activities.

About You

We are looking for someone who combines advanced technical and analytical capability with exceptional communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.

You will be confident working with data, presenting information to different audiences and developing clear, accurate documentation.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Advanced data analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify trends and develop meaningful reports and dashboards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality across reporting, documentation and compliance activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence positive outcomes.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, including the confidence to present complex information clearly to managers, committees and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and reviewing policies and procedures, with strong written communication and document preparation skills.
  • Advanced systems and technical capability, with the ability to extract, validate and analyse information from multiple systems.
  • Sound knowledge of risk management, compliance and legislative requirements, ideally within a regulatory or local government environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Relevant qualifications in business, risk management, compliance or a related discipline, together with relevant experience, will be highly regarded. Equivalent demonstrated capability and experience will also be considered.

This role requires at least 3 days per week in the office, with additional in-office days required as needed. The ideal candidate must be within travelling distance and willing to travel to meet these minimum and ad hoc in-office attendance requirements. Primary work location will be the Stawell Town Hall offices with secondary locations throughout the Northern Grampians Shire, including St Arnaud and Halls Gap.
