Job description

Syfe is APAC’s leading digital wealth platform, empowering people to build their wealth for a better future. Managing well over US $10 billion in assets and built on the pillars of access, advice and affordability, the platform caters to the different wealth needs of individuals with diversified portfolios, cash management solutions and brokerage. Syfe has operations in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, and is approaching half a million users.

About this role

As a Risk and Compliance Admin Associate, you’ll join the Legal and Compliance team and report directly to the Senior Compliance Lead. You will work closely with our Risk, Investment and Operations teams to drive forward Syfe’s mission – helping us scale, innovate and make a real impact on how people grow their wealth.

A hands-on, operational compliance and risk role focused on supporting the day-to-day operation of Syfe Group’s Legal, Risk and Compliance function. Generally supporting the administration of Selfwealth’s risk and compliance programs, including fraud and scams management, and overall risk management. While the role is largely focused on the Australian business, you will be expected to support broader APAC risk and compliance matters.

What you’ll do
  • Work within the Syfe Group Risk and Compliance team to provide support for the delivery of risk management and compliance procedures. While the focus will be on Australian matters, APAC support is expected (APAC experience is not a pre-requisite for this role but is a bonus).
  • Support the Group Legal, Risk and Compliance function in its responsibilities in fighting against frauds, scams and criminal activity.
  • Assist the Senior Compliance Lead by preparing analysis, drafting procedure updates and coordinating implementation tasks for compliance program changes resulting from regulatory change such as new and amended guidance from financial services regulators (both Australian and APAC), fraud detection and mitigation controls, Scam Prevention Framework and others.
  • Perform day-to-day tasks related to various monitoring systems and alert triage for financial-crime risk.
  • Prepare reports on fraud controls across various points of the customer lifecycle, presenting such reports to the risk and compliance team.
  • Review documents, including marketing materials, disclosures and customer communications for compliance with ASIC guidance and Selfwealth AFSL operating procedures and standards.
  • As Selfwealth’s digital advice platform develops, contribute to the monitoring and supervision program of the digital advice framework, supporting advice quality and disclosure controls.
  • Help maintain and update existing compliance procedure documentation for various business functions, including in financial services regulation, data protection and privacy, as directed by Legal, Risk and Compliance leadership.
  • Use AI and technology tools to create efficiencies in day-to-day compliance work, from monitoring and testing to reporting and documentation.
  • Support fraud and business incident investigations by collating documents and evidence and preparing case summaries for review by the Senior Compliance Lead and/or Legal counsel.
  • Support in the development and implementation of new compliance procedures, including transaction monitoring framework, complaints handling.
  • Support the rollout of group-designed risk frameworks and programs within Australia by coordinating local implementation tasks (e.g. training logistics, documentation updates, tracking action items), including but not limited to new product approvals, third party risk management, business continuity, and fraud management.
  • Support the Senior Compliance Lead and Senior Risk Manager in AFSL risk management framework by undertaking monitoring, drafting and review tasks.
What you’ll bring
Must-haves:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a financial services compliance function (AFSL-regulated environment preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in AML/CTF and fraud/financial-crime operations in financial services – transaction monitoring, CDD/ECDD, AUSTRAC reporting and fraud detection and case management, ideally under an AFSL.
  • Experience supporting the handling of AML/CTF and fraud related regulatory incidents
  • Sound working knowledge of the Australian regulatory framework – the AML/CTF Act and AUSTRAC Rules, the Corporations Act and AFSL obligations, and relevant ASIC regulatory guides (e.g. RG 78 on breach reporting,, and RG 255 on digital advice).
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills, with attention to detail sufficient to produce audit‑ready records.
  • A clear communicator who can translate regulatory obligations into practical, workable controls.
  • Detail‑oriented and organised, able to manage a caseload of monitoring and investigation tasks under supervision in a fast‑scaling business.
  • Desire to learn new and emerging Australian and APAC financial services regulatory frameworks as Syfe grows its suite of financial products and services.
Nice-to-haves:
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications – e.g. RG 146, a degree in law, commerce or finance, or certification such as ACAMS or the Governance Institute.
  • Working knowledge of AFSL compliance obligations, including how financial advice is regulated, monitored and supervised.
  • Experience in brokerage, advice, custodial or investment platform businesses.
  • Exposure to regulatory‑change programs such as the AML/CTF reforms or the Delivering Better Financial Outcomes (DBFO) reforms.
  • Experience in APAC financial services regulation, especially in securities and wealth management.
