Job summary

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) is seeking a Risk Advisor to support the enterprise-wide risk management program and guidance to schools on risk identification, assessment and monitoring. You will collaborate with school leaders, directorates and business units to strengthen risk capability, governance and continuity planning, utilizing Power BI and GRC tools within a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the MACS enterprise-wide Risk Management Framework implementation.
• Provide practical risk guidance to schools, including risk registers and regulatory compliance.
• Strengthen risk culture, internal controls and governance processes.
• Plan and undertake risk activities to evaluate controls and governance effectiveness.
• Support the use of risk tools, systems and the MACS GRC platform.
• Build risk awareness through workshops and resources.
• Contribute to enterprise risk reporting, emergency management and business continuity.

YOUR ROLE

Reporting to the Manager, Risk, the Risk Advisor supports the delivery of MACS’ enterprise-wide risk management program and the implementation of consistent, best-practice risk management processes across the organisation.

Working within the Risk Team, you will provide advice and guidance to schools within one of MACS’ four geographic regions, supporting school leaders to identify, assess, manage and monitor risks. You will work collaboratively with schools, directorates and business units to strengthen risk capability and culture while supporting enterprise risk reporting, assurance, emergency management and business continuity activities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Support the implementation of the MACS enterprise-wide Risk Management Framework, policies and consistent risk practices.
• Provide practical risk advice and guidance to schools, including risk assessments, risk registers and regulatory requirements.
• Support schools to strengthen risk culture, capability, internal controls and risk management processes.
• Plan and undertake risk activities to assess the effectiveness of risk management, controls and governance processes.
• Support the implementation and ongoing use of risk management tools, systems and the MACS GRC platform.
• Build risk awareness and capability through stakeholder engagement, workshops, training and resources.
• Support enterprise risk reporting, emergency management and business continuity activities across MACS. Apply standardised risk assessment methodologies to support consistent and effective evaluation of risks
• Support emergency management and business continuity activities, including participation in the MACS Emergency Management 24/7 Hotline

ABOUT YOU

• Tertiary qualification in risk, governance or a related discipline, or significant relevant professional experience.
• Minimum three years’ experience in risk management, internal audit or assurance, including First Line or Second Line experience.
• Strong understanding and practical application of ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management Guidelines.
• Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, facilitating risk workshops and developing effective controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across different organisational levels.
• Strong technology capability, including Microsoft Office, with Power BI and/or GRC systems experience highly regarded.
