Job description

About Megaport

We’re not your typical tech company – and we don’t want to be. Megaport is the global leader in Network as a Service (NaaS), and has transformed the way businesses connect to the cloud, data centers, and each other. We’re publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and partnered with the biggest names in tech like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, and more. Headquartered in Brisbane with a crew of over 350 people spread across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, our employees enjoy an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and (actually) fun.

Our Team Culture

We’re a team of problem solvers, pixel pushers, code slingers, and cloud fanatics. Culture is more than a poster on the wall here – collaboration beats hierarchy, curiosity fuels our growth, and everyone’s voice matters. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We work across time zones to execute on our global vision, trust each other to get things done, and never compromise our values for commercial gain. Most importantly, we place our customers at the center of everything we do.

Your Role

Not your standard Accountant role! As the Accountant – Revenue at Megaport, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate recognition of revenue and related commercial activities. You will be responsible for the full month-end process, complex commission calculations, and maintaining strong relationships with internal Finance and Commercial stakeholders.

You’ll be empowered to continuously identify opportunities for automation and improvement, ensuring our financial processes scale fast. This is a high-impact role where accounting meets commercial strategy, and your work will help enable informed decision-making across the business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning the month end process for accurate recognition of revenue, revenue share arrangements and partner commissions
  • Performing accurate and timely monthly and quarterly calculations for indirect sales commission
  • Reconcile data between billing, accounting and reporting systems as required, while investigating and troubleshooting relevant areas as applicable
  • Ensure source data changes are made to improve accuracy and efficiency of calculations and reporting, with focus on requirements for further automation
  • Review and troubleshoot issues pertaining to commissions in partnership with business units and the broader finance function.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations evidencing sound financial control of relevant entities.
  • Manage multiple internal and external stakeholders while communicating effectively and efficiently.
  • Additional finance tasks as required.

What we are looking for

  • CPA/CPA qualified preferred or in progress.
  • Strong reconciliation skills, with experience in resolving source issues and ensuring accuracy.
  • Deadline focused, with the ability to deliver quality outcomes within required timeframes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring work is precise and reliable.
  • Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborative approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities while engaging effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to use data to provide insights and support decision-making.

What we offer

  • Flexible working environment – a remote-first culture with coworking options available
  • Generous leave plans – including, parental leave, birthday leave, and a purchased annual leave program
  • Health and wellness support – through a wellness allowance and employee wellbeing initiatives
  • Comprehensive learning support – generous study and training allowance plus paid study leave
  • Creative, modern workspaces – designed to inspire when you're not working remotely, plus access to coworking spaces via our global WeWork membership if you work remotely, but like to get out of the house sometimes
  • Motivated, inclusive team – work alongside industry experts and fresh talent
  • Recognition programs – celebrate achievements with our Legend and Kudos award
