Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer to protect customers, staff and stock in a busy retail environment. You will deter theft, patrol the store, monitor CCTV, respond to incidents, and report findings with clarity.

A strong emphasis on customer service and professional conduct is expected. The ideal candidate holds a valid SIA licence (DS or guarding) and has security experience, with excellent observation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK.
• SIA Licence (DS or Security Guarding) and relevant security experience.
• Strong observational skills to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for reporting and interactions.
• Proactive and professional approach to safety and security.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence and deter theft.
• Patrol the store and monitor CCTV for suspicious activity.
• Respond to alarms and incidents, escalate when required.
• Conduct searches as per company procedures when necessary.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Work with store management on security matters.
• Provide a professional and approachable presence for customers and staff.
• Assist customers and staff with queries.
• De-escalate challenging situations calmly.
• Follow all site procedures, policies and legal requirements.
• Support the wider team and undertake additional duties as required.
