Job summary

Townsville Art & Framing is seeking a candidate to split their week between our Domain Central showroom and our Bamford Lane workshop. In the showroom on Saturdays, you’ll help customers choose mouldings, mats and glazing and prepare quotes.

In the workshop on two weekdays, you’ll join a small production team building frames, cutting, joining and mounting. No prior framing experience is required and full on-the-job training is provided, offering a genuine trade skill learned from years of

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate quotes and process orders and payments through POS.

• Keep the showroom presentable and displays well stocked.
• Assist with custom picture framing in the workshop; cutting and mounting frames.

Job description

We're looking for someone to split their week between our Domain Central showroom and our Bamford Lane workshop.

In the showroom (Saturdays), you'll work directly with customers; helping them choose mouldings, mats and glazing for their artwork, and putting together quotes. It's design-led sales: most people walk in with something they care about and no idea how to frame it, and your job is to help them land on something they'll love.

In the workshop (two weekdays), you'll join our small production team building custom and readymade frames; cutting, joining, mounting and fitting, working through the job queue alongside experienced framers.

No prior framing experience is required. Full on-the-job training is provided, and you'll learn a genuine trade skill from people who've been doing it for years.

Key responsibilities - showroom

• Prepare accurate quotes and process orders and payments through our POS
• Take in artwork for framing and hand over completed jobs
• Follow up on outstanding quotes and keep the customer pipeline moving
• Keep the showroom presentable and displays well stocked
• Assisting with custom picture framing in our workshop
• Cutting and assembling frames and mounts
• Preparing artwork for framing and finishing
• Helping keep the workshop organised and running smoothly

About you

• Comfortable talking to customers and confident making recommendations
• Careful and methodical; framing is precision work and mistakes are expensive
• Reliable, punctual, especially on Saturdays
• Physically able to handle glass, timber and large works
• Own transport (the showroom and workshop are separate sites)
• Full training in picture framing and workshop / showroom processes
• A supportive, friendly team environment
