Job summary

Y International (Australia), based in Truganina, Victoria, is seeking a Retail Buyer to drive procurement and export operations for its Australian supplier network.

You will identify suppliers, negotiate terms, analyse demand, manage supplier relationships and coordinate procurement for fresh produce, meat, FMCG and related products across LuLu Group International’s global retail network.

Qualifications

• Must have at least one year of relevant experience.
• AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
• At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
• In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

Responsibilities

• Analyse customer demand and determine product selection and purchasing requirements.
• Identify and evaluate Australian suppliers, growers, manufacturers and wholesalers.
• Source fresh produce, meat, packaged foods, FMCG and non-food products.
• Negotiate supplier prices, contracts and purchasing terms.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply.
• Forecast purchasing quantities based on demand, seasonality and stock requirements.
• Monitor market trends, product availability and competitor pricing.
• Assess product quality, certifications and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate packaging, labelling, warehousing and export logistics.
• Monitor supplier performance, product quality and delivery schedules.
• Prepare purchasing plans, cost analyses and procurement reports.
• Identify new products and sourcing opportunities for LuLu Group International’s global retail network.

Education

Job Description

Our client, Y International (Australia), facilitates the sourcing, procurement and export of high-quality Australian products for parent company, LuLu Group International, a leading international retail group. The company specialises in sourcing fresh produce, meat, packaged foods, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and selected non-food products from Australian suppliers for distribution across LuLu Group’s international retail network. Located in Truganina, Victoria, their business operations include supplier sourcing, purchasing, quality assurance, packaging, labelling, product consolidation and export logistics.

They are seeking to employ a Retail Buyer to support their procurement and export operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying suppliers, negotiating purchasing terms, analysing market demand, managing supplier relationships, monitoring product quality and coordinating procurement activities to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply of Australian fresh produce, meat, packaged foods, FMCG and non-food products. The annual salary for this full-time position is $80,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation.
