Job summary

OzChild, a leading child welfare organisation in Victoria, is seeking a Restoring Families Practitioner to join us on a permanent full-time basis. You will work intensively with children, young people and families to improve safety and family functioning using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.

The role requires collaboration with Child Protection and community partners. You will work between 8:00am and 8:00pm across days, with a focus on culturally safe practice and Aboriginal

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline.
• Experience with vulnerable children, young people and families.
• Knowledge of child safety, risk assessment and family case practice.
• Ability to engage families using strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working with Child Protection and community service providers.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• National Police Check (and International Police Check where applicable).
• Current Driver's Licence and transport.
• Completion of mandatory training on commencement.

Responsibilities

• Deliver intensive, child-focused and family-centred casework.
• Build relationships with children, young people and families.
• Complete assessments, case planning, interventions and reviews with families and key stakeholders.
• Respond to referrals within required timeframes, including urgent and high-risk situations.
• Apply evidence-informed approaches including Safe & Together, MARAM, Motivational Interviewing and relational practice.
• Maintain high-quality case notes and documentation within required timeframes.
• Utilise flexible funding to reduce barriers and support family-identified goals.
• Participate in care team meetings, reflective supervision and ongoing professional development.
• Work collaboratively with Child Protection and community service partners to deliver coordinated responses.
• Work flexibly between 8:00am and 8:00pm across working days.
• Promote culturally safe practice, including working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
