Job summary

Fortescue Metals Group is seeking a full-time RC Rig Geologist to join the Resource Definition team at Solomon. This role involves analyzing geological data and supporting resource definition, with a strong emphasis on safety and field supervision.

You will lead daily RC drill operations, perform stratigraphy and downhole gamma logging, manage assay data, and ensure sample quality. The position offers hands-on growth within a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary degree in Geoscience required.
• Full C class, manual driver's licence required.
• Operate and maintain a 4WD vehicle.
• Exposure to ArcGIS, Leapfrog and Vulcan software.
• Provide First Aid training is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and be a role model for safety.
• Daily supervision of RC drill rig.
• High quality stratigraphy, downhole gamma, and texture logging of RC chips.
• Assay and geological data management, internal QAQC, data collection/validation.
• Ensuring high sample quality on the rigs.
• Rationalisation and progression of near mine exploration targets.

Work Location:Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

Fortescue is seeking a full-time RC Rig Geologist to join the Resource Definition team at Solomon.
