Job summary

Life Without Barriers in Sydney is seeking a Youth Worker (Interim Care) to provide direct support and mentorship to children aged 9-14 who have faced trauma or neglect. The role involves creating a safe, homelike environment and teaching life skills.

You will work a roster including afternoon shifts, sleepovers and weekends, with 24/7 operation in interim care. Applicants must have experience with vulnerable youth, a current HLTAID011 First Aid certificate, and be prepared for probity checks.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced childhood trauma or neglect.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with children and young people through active engagement.
• Understanding of family/kinship connections to children in placement.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and mentorship to children and young people (typically aged 9–14).
• Create a safe, homelike environment that supports learning life skills and independent living.
• Work within 24/7 interim care rosters, including afternoon, sleepover, and weekend shifts.
