Job summary

Mount Isa Mines in Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia, is seeking an Inventory Controller to manage material availability and optimise inventory for safe, reliable operations. You will collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Warehouse, Procurement and Master Data teams to limit risk and improve data quality.

The role offers a residential placement in Mount Isa with a Monday–Friday, 8-hour workday. Local candidates are preferred; relocation support is available for those relocating from outside

Qualifications

• Experience in inventory, materials management, supply planning, procurement or warehouse operations is required.
• Strong inventory management and optimisation capability.
• Understanding of replenishment planning, stock movements and supply risk.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret inventory, demand, usage and lead-time data.
• Good Microsoft Excel and reporting capability.
• Practical ERP experience, preferably SAP.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a broader team.
• Strong focus on data accuracy, follow-through and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory levels, shortages, supply risks and replenishment requirements to protect operational continuity.
• Review demand, usage, lead times and stock holdings to optimise inventory levels and support replenishment planning.
• Work with Procurement, Warehouse, Maintenance and Operations to resolve shortages, urgent requirements and supply issues.
• Maintain accurate material master data and investigate inventory discrepancies, unusual movements and data quality issues.
• Identify and manage excess, surplus, slow-moving and obsolete inventory to optimise inventory investment.
• Analyse inventory performance and drive continuous improvement opportunities across processes, reporting and controls.
