Job summary

MacKillop Family Services in Box Hill & Mooroolbark, VIC, is seeking an experienced Residential House Supervisor to lead a team of Residential Care Workers within our OoHC program. You will guide staff to deliver safe, therapeutic care for children and young people with high needs, reporting to the Residential Coordinator.

• Ability to relate to and work with children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Collaborative teamwork and sound personal judgement in independent work.

Your New Role

As an experienced Residential House Supervisor, you will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people. You will bring strong leadership skills, a calm and resilient approach, and guide and mentor staff in a meaningful environment.

You’ll play an important role in MacKillop’s Out of Home Care (OoHC) programs, providing a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment for children and young people with high and complex needs. Through residential care, home-based care, lead tenant arrangements and case management, you will work alongside Child Protection to create positive pathways for children and young people.

You will lead a dedicated team of Residential Care Workers, ensuring the day-to-day care and support provided to young people is consistent, safe and empowering. This role is an integral part of our Out of Home Care (OoHC) program and reports directly to the Residential Coordinator.

We have exciting full-time opportunities based in Box Hill & Mooroolbark, VIC within our East Metro Residential Out of Home Care (OoHC) program.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Highly desirable: A relevant Bachelor in Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Services, or related subject area, including four (4) additional mandatory competency units (Residential Care Skill Set).
• A relevant Diploma in Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Services or related subject area, with substantial experience, including four (4) additional mandatory competency units (Residential Care Skill Set).
• Substantial leadership experience within Residential Care, specifically Out of Home Care (OoHC) for children and young people.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, lead and support a team of Residential Care Workers.
• Proven ability to relate to and work with children and young people who may experience social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff and other stakeholders, as well as initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the Residential Care sector, particularly within a therapeutic environment.

Our successful candidate must have the following:

• Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
• First Aid Certificate from a Nationally Recognised Training Organisation (RTO), with a minimum of six (6) months remaining validity;
• Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
• Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
• Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles).
• Completion of four (4) additional mandatory competency units (Residential Care Skill Set)
