Our supported residential homes provide structured, person-centred care and supervision for residents with diverse and complex support needs. We are committed to promoting safety, wellbeing, independence, choice and quality of life within a stable and supportive home environment.

About the Role

Goaldis Community Services is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Residential Care Officer to join our residential services team.

The Residential Care Officer will work within Goaldis supported group homes and will be responsible for overseeing the consistent delivery of care and supervision to residents.

A key component of the position is providing day‑to‑day guidance, supervision and mentoring to disability support workers to ensure residents receive support in accordance with their individual support plans, behaviour support strategies, care requirements and established residential routines.

The Residential Care Officer will monitor residents' needs, wellbeing and progress; coordinate the implementation of individual support arrangements; and provide guidance to the support team where residents have complex or changing support requirements.

The position requires regular engagement within the residential environment and close collaboration with residents, support workers, families and relevant health and allied health professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day‑to‑day delivery of care and supervision within allocated supported residential homes, ensuring residents receive consistent, high‑quality support.

Provide direct care to residents when required, including assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, toileting, bathing, grooming, mobility, transfers, and exercise, while monitoring health, wellbeing, medication, and behaviour and reporting concerns to appropriate professionals.

Support residents in individual and group activities to build independence, daily living skills, communication, social development, and community participation.

Provide emotional, psychological, and social support through compassionate engagement and person‑centred interaction.

Provide guidance, supervision, and mentoring to disability support workers delivering residential care, ensuring care practices align with established standards and support plans.

Monitor the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of support provided to residents and identify areas requiring improvement.

Coordinate and oversee the implementation of individual support plans, behaviour support plans, care requirements, and established residential routines.

Ensure support workers understand residents’ individual needs and appropriately implement agreed support strategies.

Assess and monitor residents’ ongoing support needs, wellbeing, behaviour, abilities, and progress, and communicate any changes to the residential support team.

Provide guidance to support workers in responding appropriately to complex support needs and behaviours of concern, including trauma‑informed and positive behaviour support approaches.

Monitor progress notes, incident records, medication documentation, and residential care records to ensure accurate and timely reporting of residents’ care, wellbeing, and progress.

Facilitate consistency and continuity of care between support workers and across different shifts through effective communication and handover practices.

Participate in the development, implementation, and review of residents’ individual support arrangements in collaboration with families and allied health professionals.

Liaise with residents, families, healthcare professionals, behaviour support practitioners, and allied health professionals regarding residents’ support needs where required.

Communicate changes to care arrangements and professional recommendations to the residential support team and monitor their implementation.

Identify risks affecting residents’ safety or wellbeing and ensure established risk‑management and support strategies are followed.

Promote a safe, respectful, stable, and person‑centred living environment within each supported residence.

Support the professional development of residential support workers through guidance, mentoring, and feedback on care practices.
