Manning Base Hospital in Taree is seeking a Resident Medical Officer (General Position) for a 12‑month term, either full-time or part-time. The role offers rotations through multiple departments and requires commitment to rural practice.
Temporary appointments provide broad exposure to inpatient and outpatient services within the public health system and opportunities to gain experience under supervision in a rural setting.
The Manning Base Hospital Resident Medical Officer position offers Junior Medical Officers interested in a future of rural practice the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and gain experience in providing effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatients and outpatient areas in the public health organisation.
The role can offer rotations between; General Medicine, Emergency Department, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care, Palliative Care, Rehabilitation Services, Oncology, General Practice, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Surgery and Urology.
Participation in relief / nights are expected on an equitable basis, including relief at Wingham Community Hospital.
The applicant must have a commitment to rural practice and rural communities.

Manning Base Hospital treats approximately 25,000 inpatients, 35,000 Emergency Department patients and 90,700 outpatients each year.
With a population of over 90,300 and with the median age of 62 years old the Lower Mid North Coast Sector is projected to have the highest growth in the group age of 85 years and over.
