Job summary

Curtin University is seeking a detail-oriented Grants Administrator to support the Project Initiation team with reviewing, submitting and managing research funding applications. You will advise researchers on eligibility, collate data, and maintain records, while ensuring compliance with Curtin policies and grant requirements.

This role offers a fixed-term 2-year contract on Bentley Campus and opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent education, training or experience.
  • Ability to work as part of a team within the Research Office and interact positively with a diverse range of people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear advice and feedback to applicants.
  • Sound numeracy skills, particularly in reviewing budget information and identifying issues requiring clarification.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities, high-volume workloads and deadlines.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Suite, including the ability to use spreadsheets to collate and maintain application information.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive application and stakeholder information.
  • Experience in a tertiary education environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Review research funding applications to ensure documentation is complete and administrative and regulatory requirements are addressed.
  • Develop familiarity with granting body requirements and advise applicants on eligibility issues, application requirements and relevant Curtin processes.
  • Liaise with applicants to support revisions, provide constructive feedback and help strengthen applications before submission.
  • Use spreadsheets, databases and relevant systems to collate, track and maintain information provided through grant applications. Identify and share information with academic staff about future funding opportunities, where appropriate.
  • Support continuous improvement of Project Initiation functionality, service delivery and ways of working.
  • Provide a personalised service by supporting projects through to service delivery and maintaining positive relationships with academic and professional staff.

About the Role

This role supports the delivery of Curtin’s research strategy by assisting the Project Initiation team with the review, submission and management of research funding applications. Drawing on knowledge of granting body requirements, Curtin policies, procedures, processes and systems, you will help ensure that applications meet relevant administrative and regulatory requirements while providing clear advice and practical support to researchers.

You will work directly with academic staff applying for grants and collaborate with other Curtin University teams as required. You will contribute to personalised, high-quality service delivery, accurate application data management and continuous improvement across Project Initiation activity.
