Job summary

The Australian National University invites applications for ANU Officer 7 (Research) in the Robotics Lab. This fixed-term, full-time role contributes to developing software for dry dock optimisation and broader robotics applications, collaborating with researchers and industry partners.

The successful candidate will work on AI and robotics projects, engage in real-world planning and optimisation tasks, and join a multidisciplinary team at ANU, in Canberra, Australia.

This position is a fixed term for a period of one year appointment to contribute to the development of software for dry dock optimisation and broader robotics application in dry dock. Please see Position Description for details. This position is suitable for experience graduates with robotics software development experience. It provides opportunities to collaborate with researchers and practitioners at the ANU, University of Sydney, ARC ARIAM Hub and Thales Australia.

The position will be hosted at the Robotics Lab within the ANU School of Computing. The ANU School of Computing has a strong foundation in computing and information sciences at ANU with four activity clusters:

  • Computing Foundations: software systems, programming languages, compilers, operating systems, software testing, software engineering, computer architecture, computer security, logic and verification, theory of computation, formal methods
  • Data Science: data mining and statistical analysis, data storage and management, cloud storage and distributed computing, data engineering, data warehousing, data modeling and visualization, data analytics, database management and architecture, health informatics, data privacy
  • Computational Science: scientific computing, high-performance computing, large-scale parallel systems, modeling and simulation, bioinformatics, computational biology/chemistry/physics/engineering
