Job summary

UNSW Canberra invites applications for a Research Associate to join the School of Systems and Computing. The role is a fixed‑term, full‑time appointment for 2 years, based at UNSW Canberra, ADFA Campus, to advance cryptography, machine learning and biometrics research.

Applicants should hold a PhD in CS or maths, with a publication record in top venues and a strong cryptography and deep learning background. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS/Math or relevant area; PhD thesis submissions welcomed.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct innovative and independent research.
• Publications in high‑quality journals and/or conferences (Crypto, Eurocrypt, CCS, NDSS, IEEE TIFS/TPAMI).
• Strong background in post‑quantum or applied cryptography; math background helpful.
• Ability to apply deep learning models for biometrics research.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development and publication of research results in journals and conferences.
• Participate in national and international conferences as part of the project team.
