Job summary

UNSW invites applications for a Research Associate to join the Engineering research team in Sydney. Reporting to Professor Chongmin Song, this fixed-term role focuses on developing a scaled boundary framework for dynamic nonlinear analysis of large-scale structures, integrating geometric modelling with computational mechanics.

The position is full-time (35 hours/week) for 12 months, based at Kensington, Sydney, with a salary range of $95,036–$126,711 per annum plus 17% superannuation.

Qualifications

• A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
• Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
• Previous experience on developing numerical methods as evidenced by journal publications.
• Strong ability and skills in computer programming as demonstrated by PhD research and refereed journal publications.
• Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
• Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
